Consistency is Key

Imries Fish Bar in Leven was recently voted Best Fish and Chip shop in Fife and it’s not hard to see why.  Just one minute in the door and you are met with a friendly face, spotless modern facilities and fresh fish coming daily from Imries own fish shed in St Monans up the East Neuk.  Quality food is what keeps both regulars and visitors coming back for more.

Chips are the staple for any Fish and Chip shop.  Every meal is accompanied by chips and they can make or break a reputation.  John Taylor, Manager at Imries, explained that they used to prepare their own chips but the consistency of quality from potato merchants was hard to achieve.  “You can’t make great chips out of poor quality potatoes,” said John and he should know as he started his Chippie career in St Andrews as a ‘tattie boy’ – peeling and prepping the chips.

When he met up with Malcolm he felt it was time to give The Real Fresh Chip Co a try.  Yes, the actual chips were perhaps a little more expensive on the surface but with zero wastage, savings on water, keeping drains clear and no staff costs it soon became apparent he was onto a winner.  However, all this wouldn’t have been worth anything if the taste and crispiness weren’t up to customer expectations.

John and his customers however are delighted with Real Fresh Chip Co chips.  He reckons an added bonus is The Real Fresh Chip Co being a family business run with passion and pride.  Nothing seems too much trouble and he reports his deliveries always appear with a smile every day and that’s 7 days a week. 

Definitely a smart move reckons John.
